Why are you doing this?
So we asked ourselves a very simple question: "How do you measure influence and relevance in 2025?"
Or more granularly:
- How much of a midwit is Jason Calacanis? (based on the midwit meme)
- How strong is the Solana community? (based on the doge vs cheems meme)
I mean, sure you could measure follower counts, mentions, mindshare, and everything else that can be botted or requires thousands of dollars of gated API access.
However, even until now, there was no way to measure a specific influencer or community in a common language that we all know, love and understand. The meme.
Introducing The Meme Curve Index ™
The Meme Curve Index ™ is a simple index that measures the reputation of a specific influencer or community tied to an actual relatable meme that we all know & love, fully driven by community votes.
An easy way to think about it is: "if Hot-or-Not & Glassdoor had a [redacted] baby".
How does it work?
It's pretty simple.

-
There are two distinct segments: A) Influencers & B) Communities.
-
Each segment will have a meme that can be voted on. For example, the midwit meme, the soyboy vs chad meme (coming soon), or the doge vs cheems meme. Our aim is to support memes that have stood the test of time. Memes cannot be forced, and must be organically adopted by online communities. However, not all memes will make sense in a voting scenario across a variety of influencers and communities, but we'll see how it goes and continually add support for ones that do. Feel free to suggest memes that you think should be added to the index by DMing us on X.
-
Each meme, like midwit or doge-vs-cheems, will have unique voting options that let you assign a vote to a particular element related to that meme. In addition, you can also view a summary of influencers and communities with the most votes for each meme type on the Leaderboard page. Here's an example of the voting schema:
Meme | Voting Options |
---|---|
Midwit | [Left-Curve, Midwit, Right-Curve] |
Soyjak vs Chad | [Soyjak, Chad] |
Doge vs Cheems | [Strong, Weak] |
Distracted Boyfriend | [New & Relevant, Old & Irrelevant] |
- Votes are tied to a specific meme, and we calculate a simple "meme score" that's aggregated across all memes to track an influencer or communities progression towards greatness or obscurity. This can be seen in the Global Rankings page. The meme score is calculated as follows:
Range | Points |
---|---|
Red | -69 Points |
Purple | -15 Points (6+9) |
Yellow | +15 Points (6+9) |
Green | +69 Points |
- In the rare case of 5 options, we will choose either +/- 6 or 9 points, depending on the context of the meme and how we're feeling that day.
-
Users can place votes either publicly (using their X/Twitter account) or anonymously. Since we're not trying to rebuild the X platform (and we're too poor to pay for API access), all social engagement such as comments/replies will simply be pushed to X to keep the index more focused.
-
Users can also be part of a tribe, which is directly populated by our list of Communities. You can set your tribe affiliation (optional) in your profile settings. Note: Although we fully acknowledge that people will want to switch tribes, however once your tribe is updated, it can then only be changed once every 30 days to prevent gaming the system.
I don't consider myself an "influencer", what do I do?
Honestly, if you have a better word (we refuse to say KOL), let us know. For simplicity, it just means that you're popular and have a following on the X (Twitter) platform.
Why is it so tribal?
If we had it our way, the entire planet would be holding hands and dancing under a tree as one giant jolly kumbaya tribe. But in reality, there are thousands or millions of tribes because we all relate to different things of interest.
Once there's enough data, we'll be able to showcase the most active tribes and who they respect and despise the most. This will be added to the Global Rankings page.
Sure, it's possible that we might cause some tribal wars, but haven't you seen Game of Thrones?
How do I remove myself from the index?
While we'd love to keep you in the index for transparency, you can always request a removal by DMing us on X which also allows us to verify that the request is legitimate. This will delete your profile and all it's associated votes.
How do I request an influencer or community be added?
For now, just DM or @-mention us on X, but we'll be adding a form soon, or possibly a community-voting system.
Can I build off of the indexing data?
Yes, ideally you will be able to plug into the indexing data via a simple REST API. However, this will take some time as our initial goal is to build a rich index that is useful for the community.
Who is behind this? What is your grand plan?
We're a team of two, currently in stealth right now, which we're calling 69IQ. Our background is in consumer, crypto, and marketing.
The Meme Curve Index ™ is our first initial phase but our ultimate vision is outlined below.
-
Our first phase is to build a rich "Meme Curve Index". We're currently in the process of building the index, and will be iterating on it over the next few months.
-
Our second phase is to build the "Meme Curve Market". This will be a prediction-market style experience for reputation & influence based on the index.
-
Our third and final phase is to build "The Infinite Meme". Details on this will be revealed in the future assuming our first two phases are successful.
Who is backing this?
We are not venture-backed. Maybe we'll consider it if there's enough interest but only with the right partners who understand how to navigate attention and culture.
And although we have a crypto-background, we intentionally did not start token-first in order to avoid the pitfalls of other projects — and instead launch one when we are ready.
But first, help us build a sustainable project, one that relates to the real world through something we all share and love. Memes. ❤️
